Welcome!

This blog began as we documented our adoption of our third child, Caleb. It is now an eclectic journal of our often amusing lifestyle with 4 young children.

We do try to "keep it simple" because our lives are obviously busy enough! We try to hold true to what we firmly believe is the most important: family, friends, and faith.

We hope you enjoy our everyday happenings!

Influenza B and 2 Lessons Learned

We have had a couple of rough days here, and it appears we have more to look forward to. Mariah has been very sick since Saturday. I took her to the doctor today (I called the Ask-a-Nurse twice as well...they said to wait it out...grrr) and it turns out that Mariah has influenza b. What does this mean? It means she is miserable! She can't stay awake more than an hour at a time...then she needs another nap. During the time she is awake, she is lying on the floor most of time. It is gut-wrenching, to say the least.
.
As our post title mentions, we have learned two things...please take note because we think they're important:
1. GET THE FLU SHOT! This got missed this year, and now Mariah is paying the price. The rest of us are now taking anti-viral medicine in hope that we don't catch it, as well.
2. CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE ON YOUR PRESCRIPTIONS! Would you believe that some of the medicine we received from the pharmacy today was expired? And you know, I think this is the first time I've ever even thought to check the expiration date...
.
Even when she's sick, Mariah has a fan club:
.
What a goof!

Poor baby. I hope she feels better soon and the rest of you are able to stay well.

We are BIG believers in the flu shot here, but we have had it pounded in our head because of Dmitry's heart issues.

Praying that she'll be better soon!

Oh poor thing. We had the flu in our house a couple of weeks back. I hope she feels better soon and I hope that the rest of the house stays healthy!

Poor Mariah!!! Hope she's better soon. I'm also a big fan of the flu shot but remember, it's not perfect so try not to beat yourself up over it.
Hugs...

UGH!!!!! She looks so miserable poor baby. I have one at home with Influenza A, a little bit different strand but still a rough one.

I second your first lesson learned. We too forgot the flu vaccine this year and are paying the price. First time in about 5 years we haven't had the shot. First case of flu in the same amount of time, so yes get the vaccine!!!

Hope and pray she is feeling better soon.
